Speakers: Krystle Phirangee and Cheryl Lepard

Discover how Generative AI can enhance inclusivity in healthcare professional education by creating tailored learning experiences, addressing biases, and improving accessibility. This interactive talk will explore practical applications of AI to support diverse learning needs while also highlighting the limitations of such tools. Learn how to leverage AI tools to build a more inclusive and effective teaching and learning environment.

Speakers

Krystle Phirangee, PhD is an accomplished scholar and practitioner in digital learning, with extensive experience in higher education and learning and development. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Technology and specializes in the application of inclusive pedagogy in online and blended learning environments. As a senior educational developer and lead in assessment and digital learning, she has driven key initiatives in equity-based course design, teaching with technology, and the integration of generative AI in education. In addition to her role as an educator and researcher, Krystle is a Lecturer at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), where she teaches courses on digital pedagogy, online learning, and inclusive education. Her research explores the critical role of fostering a sense of community and belonging in online and blended learning to create more equitable and meaningful educational experiences.

 

Cheryl Lepard, MEd has extensive experience designing accommodation and return to work plans for individuals with disabilities.  Cheryl’s roles have included working as a vocational evaluator and WSIB case manager for several private companies, and as a Disability Consultant at the University of Toronto (U of T).  She currently works as an Educational Developer – Universal Design for Learning at the U of T supporting professors in enhancing accessibility in their courses. Cheryl has a M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning in addition to a Career & Work Counsellor diploma.
